who we are

Epic Arts

Every Person Is Counted

Epic Arts aims to change people’s attitudes towards disability, encouraging the belief that Every Person Is Counted. We hope to nurture the abilities of those usually termed disabled by society through arts workshops, performances, community outreach programs and an arts café.

what we do

The aim of our workshops is to provide an environment where disabled and able-bodied people can interact, build confidence and express themselves creatively. We use a variety of art forms including dance, drama, music, photography, animation and puppetry and promote linking traditional Khmer Arts with contemporary styles.

Workshops often lead to creating actual performances. We have a professional performing group which has toured regionally in Southeast Asia and several amateur youth groups who have toured nationally and within the community.

Community outreach is our latest programme. Focusing on two districts in Kampot, we aim to build relationships with local disabled people through visits to their families and by running workshops and performances in their communities.

The arts café, meanwhile, employs deaf and disabled persons, with the menu in sign language to encourage clearer communication. The atmosphere is unmistakably ‘Epic Arts’ and is a great model of an inclusive working environment. We are currently raising funds to build a wheelchair accessible Arts Centre in Kampot which will provide unique opportunities for children in the arts, sports and circus.
