who we are
Working with urban poor communities in basic infrastructure and housing rights
Sahmakum Teang Tnaut (Sugar Palm Leaf Association) works with resource poor and marginalized urban communities through basic infrastructure upgrading and housing rights.
what we do
We encourage and nurture innovative ideas to help communities resolve their infrastructure and housing issues, since many are facing ever-increasing pressures such as illegal forced eviction from developers and authorities. These community members play an integral role in the functioning of Cambodia’s urban areas by providing skilled construction labour, motodops, street cleaners and many others yet their contributions often go unnoticed.
We do not support a ‘handout’ system, but instead work with those willing to help themselves. We also involve Cambodia’s youth in our projects so that they are given a chance to experience the problems firsthand and get involved in finding solutions.
